He calls himself Spider.

I just know him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate places next to me on the airplane.

I didn’t know who he really was . . . future rock star . . . my stepbrother.

He kissed me because he thought he’d never see me again. He would.

Everyone warned me about him.
They told me he was careless and ruthless and screwed up.
They said he’d leave me with a hole in my heart.

Maybe I should have listened.
Maybe I should have built a fortress to keep him out.
But I crumbled instead.

They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that’s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.

He just had to figure it out before it’s too late…

Review:

I was quite happy when I learned we were getting a book on Spider because I really liked his character and I was excited to read what his story would be like.

When Spider and Rose first meet, they don't know just how intertwined their lives were going to be. The attraction is there and neither of them are dealing with the situation the same.

Rose doesn't come across as a risk taker, but when Spider is involved, she is ready to push herself out of her confort zone. Spider's presence probably pushed her to stand up for her because he reminds her of the survivor she is; the one that escaped a hard life instead of the perfect girl she's been molded into.

Spider is a mess when Rose comes crashing into his life and no matter how much she affects him, he tries his best to push her away. He makes quite a few mistakes in this book, but you feel for him as you get to know his deepest secrets and regrets.

They both try to move on separately after Spider's latest action to push her away succeeds and even though four years passed between that moment and the other part of the book, you can tell from the first lines of the second part, that it was the hardest thing Spider had to do and making up for it isn't going to easy for him as Rose doesn't know if she could ever trust him.

I will admit that although I really enjoyed it, I feel like this book went quite fast and I wouldn't have minded a longer book so we can really see Spider and Rose grow. It just felt like years passed quickly and I would have loved to hear more about what happened in those years in detail instead of just a few paragraphs.

Besides Rose and Spider, there was one other character that always made me smile when he appeared in the story and I know you will also love reading about Oscar, Rose's best friend. He's really the kind of person you just want in your life.

Overall, I really liked the writing and found myself going chapters after chapters wanting to know what happened next.

I was giving an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills writes about strong heroines and sexy alpha males that sometimes you just want to slap.

She's addicted to dystopian books and all things fantasy, including unicorns and sword-wielding females. Other fascinations include frothy coffee beverages, dark chocolate, Instagram, Ian Somerhalder (seriously hot), astronomy (she's a Gemini), and tattoos.

She has a degree in English and a Master's in Education.

When she's not pecking away on her computer, she shops for cool magnets and paints old furniture.
